Maui is among Hawaii’s hottest vacation destinations. A primary reason for that is all that you can see. Maui has a lot of attractions which are considered must-see. After checking out the many sights that Maui has to offer, you will understand why it’s a great place to visit.
While having choices is nice, they can seem overwhelming when visiting a place like Maui. As there is certainly a lot for you to check out, it’s highly recommended you make a to-do list or a vacation itinerary for yourself. If you don’t, you can find yourself missing out on some of the history and natural beauty that Maui can offer you.
There are some places you should not miss when traveling to Maui. These locations are outlined below.
1. The Island of Molokini
Molokini is off the southern coast of Maui. While those only looking to sightsee will enjoy the boat trip, Molokini is ideal for some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in all of Hawaii. Private and group tours are available to the island.
2. Iao Valley State Park
Iao Valley State Park is a sightseer’s dream. Located in Central Maui, it offers great hiking and is an excellent location to get into the history of Maui.
3. The Banyan Tree
It is one of the largest trees of its kind both in Hawaii and in the United States. On average they can grow to the size of a whole city block. You will find this in the area of Lahaina. The Banyan tree is a must see for any vacationer. If you are taking your children along on your Maui vacation, this is something they will want to check out.
4. Haleakala National Park
Haleakala National Park located on the eastern half of Maui is home to the world’s largest inactive volcano. This park also offers a beautiful tropical landscape that host a dazzling variety of rare flowers and plants. Don’t forget the beautiful streams as well.
5. The Hana State Highway
While on the eastern part of the island, you can get to Hana Highway. Normally a highway is not in anyone’s travel agenda, and Hana itself is alright but pales in comparison to other places on the Hawaiian Islands. But this highway offers some of the most scenic locales you will ever lay your eyes on. Incredible foliage, eye-popping views of the Pacific Ocean and a whole lot more. Rent a car and enjoy the journey.
